You're always welcome at Grandma's!
When visiting Duluth we always have to stop at the old standby, Grandma's. Just like hotdish and ice fishing, Grandma's is an institution and a must see! In fact, no trip to Duluth would be complete without enjoying a meal at Grandma's
The kid love the atmosphere with all the old stuff hanging from the walls. The place itself is like a museum of old adversitements and antiques. Grandma's decor was like this long before TGI Friday's ripped it off. There's even outdoor deck dining during the warmer months. A great way to get a view of the famous Aerial Lift Bridge and the Duluth harbor entry.
The food is typical "sports bar" fare, but the portions are above average and the prices won't break the bank. The wait staff, while very busy, are always friendly and willing to chat it up.
The downside of all this fun? This place can be very busy! On a typical Duluth summer weekend, the wait for a table can be torture. Unfortunately, all the other options in Canal Park are the same way. If you are in Duluth during Grandma's Marathon, forget about finding a table anywhere in Canal Park.
The best time of year to find a table at Grandma's? January! LOL!
